Gut Makeover Pomegranate Almond Milk Shake

Chia seeds and flaxseeds both have anti-inflammatory omega-3 oils in them as well as protein and they help with digestion. I alternate the two in my breakfasts, to keep life interesting. If you’re on a budget, opt for flaxseeds rather than chia, as they are usually much cheaper. The pomegranates here contain polyphenols to feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut. You can buy them in bags frozen for convenience all year round if you need to. Freezing them locks in the polyphenol nutrients. The ginger is anti-inflammatory.

80g pomegranate seeds
200ml unsweetened almond milk

2cm fresh ginger, peeled
1 tbsp chia or flaxseeds

Add all the ingredients to a blender and pulse until smooth.

Drink immediately before the chia or flaxseeds expand, making the shake too thick to drink.

Follow by drinking a large glass of water to help digestion of the chia or flaxseeds.
