Constipation Rescue Pot

Plant-based, easy, delicious high-fibre, high-protein snack or breakfast pot to keep you regular.

11g fibre, 10g protein, 284 calories per serving

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 250ml (1 American cup) organic unsweetened soy milk

  • 30g (1oz) of chia seeds

  • 1 or 2 teaspoons of your favourite berry jam eg I’m using these from Ferne & Rosie - lower in sugar than regular jam, but sweet enough to taste good.

How to make it

  1. Pour the milk into a bowl.

  2. Add the chia seeds.

  3. Stir the chia seeds into the milk so they are fairly distributed through the liquid and put in the fridge with a cover on.

  4. Open the fridge and give the mixture a good stir once or twice over the next couple of hours to prevent the seeds clumping together.

  5. When it looks set (after about 2 hours) - you’ll know because the chia seeds should now resemble frog spawn - take it out of the fridge.

  6. Get a glass and dollop your jam into it and pour the chia mixture on top.

  7. You can store in the fridge for a few days, or eat right away.

How can this help prevent/alleviate constipation?

The chia seeds bulk up your stools. These then press against the gut lining and spark contractions to keep every thing moving along at the right pace.
